Swords Castle is an early medieval castle in Swords, County Dublin. It was built around 1200, or a little later, as the manorial residence of Archbishop John Comyn, the first Anglo-Norman Archbishop of Dublin.
It was never strong militarily, but its perimeter wall of about 305 meters is unusually large for an Irish castle and encloses nearly 6,000 square meters. Key features include a northern tower, probably the Constable's residence, a southern gateway complex and a chapel of the late 13th century.
The castle fell into disrepair in the 14th and 15th centuries. It was a meeting place for Anglo-Irish Catholic families during the 1641 Rebellion. Dublin County Council bought it in 1985, and the chapel has hosted weddings since 2019.
