The Cathedral of St. Vincent and St. James stands in the Old Town of Wrocław. Duke Henry II the Pious founded it around 1240, and it was completed by 1256. It was first built in the Romanesque style, and the fourteenth- and fifteenth-century expansion is predominantly Gothic. Henry II was buried in the crypt after he was killed fighting the Mongols at the Battle of Legnica in 1241.
Franciscans were replaced by Premonstratensians in the sixteenth century, and the church was rededicated to St. Vincent of Saragossa in 1530. Baroque furnishings were added from 1662 to 1674. Christoph Hackner built the late Baroque Hochberg Chapel from 1723 to 1727, as a mausoleum ordered by Count Ferdinand von Hochberg.
Severe damage occurred in the Siege of Breslau in 1945. It was donated to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Eparchy in 1997.
