Schloss Belvedere is a Baroque palace on the outskirts of Weimar, Germany. It was built between 1724 and 1732 for Ernst August, Duke of Saxe-Weimar, as a Lustschloss, a pleasure house for house parties. Johann August Richter and Gottfried Heinrich Krohne were the architects.
The main block is flanked by symmetrical pavilions. French-style gardens were laid out around it from 1728 to 1748. After 1811 the outer gardens were redesigned in the English landscape style for Grand Duke Carl Friedrich, whose collection of exotic plants was published in 1820 as Hortus Belvedereanus.
Today the palace is part of Weimar's art collections, which include 18th-century porcelain, faience, furniture and paintings. It belongs to the UNESCO site Classical Weimar, inscribed in 1998.
