San Nazaro in Brolo is a Roman Catholic basilica on Piazza San Nazzaro in Milan. It was founded in the fourth century, with groundbreaking listed in 382, and is said to have been commissioned by Saint Ambrose. Its original name was the Basilica Apostolorum, and the relics of the Apostles are still beneath the altar.
The church follows a Greek cross plan with apses on the arms, a layout the source says matches only the Church of the Holy Apostles in Constantinople. In 397 the body of Saint Nazarus was discovered and a new apse was created. A Romanesque octagonal tambour with a circular loggia was later added over the crossing.
The Trivulzio Mausoleum, an octagonal chapel set before the facade, was begun in 1512 by Bramantino for the condottiero Giangiacomo Trivulzio. The Chapel of Saint Catherine of Alexandria was built around 1540 by Antonio da Lonate.
