The Moesgaard Museum is a museum of archaeology and ethnography in Beder, a suburb of Aarhus, Denmark. Aarhus University owns it, and the museum was established in 1970. The new building, designed by Henning Larsen Architects, was inaugurated in 2014. It is built around a broad central staircase. Changing exhibitions occupy the upper levels, and permanent exhibitions on Danish, Scandinavian and European history fill the lower levels.
The collection includes the Grauballe Man, a bog body, the Illerup Ådal weapon caches and a reconstruction of the Hørning Stave Church, dated to about 1060 from tree rings. The museum holds almost 50,000 ethnographic artifacts from around the world.
The estate covers 100 hectares. A 2.5-mile (4-kilometer) Prehistoric Track runs through it, with an Iron Age house based on a farmhouse from the third century. The manor house, built from 1780 to 1784, is used by the university.
