Katoghike Holy Mother of God Church stands at the intersection of Abovyan Street and Sayat-Nova Avenue in Yerevan. Inscriptions on one wall date the surviving structure to 1264. It is small, measuring 18 by 25 feet (5.4 by 7.5 meters), and the article calls its style Armenian.

After the Yerevan earthquake of 1679, a large three-nave basilica was built around it from 1693 to 1695. It was made of tuff stone, had no dome, and had a prayer hall of about 46 by 63 feet (14 by 19.3 meters). Soviet authorities demolished the basilica in 1936, which revealed the older thirteenth-century church inside it. Archaeologists protested, and the older church was preserved.

Because of its limited space, it serves only as a prayer house. Saint Anna Church, consecrated in 2015, stands in a new complex to the north.
