Dunbar Castle is a ruined castle that overlooks Dunbar harbor in East Lothian, near the border between Scotland and England. It is not open to the public. The first stone castle is thought to date from about 1070 and to have been built by Gospatric, Earl of Northumbria.

The Earls of Dunbar held it until 1457, when it was dismantled. In 1338 Black Agnes of Dunbar and Sir Alexander Ramsay successfully defended it against a siege. James IV later restored it, and French forces and Mary of Guise reinforced its defenses in the 16th century.

Its features include an octagonal citadel on a detached rock, joined to the main castle by a passage 69 feet long. Parliament ordered it slighted in December 1567.
