The Dormition of the Theotokos Church stands in the Varosha quarter, the old town of Targovishte in Bulgaria. Usta Dimitar of the Tryavna School built it from 1847 to 1851. The interior decoration, including the chancel screen, was finished in 1860 by artists of the Tryavna School.

It is a three-naved stone church of 510 square meters and is 98 feet (30 meters) high at most. The style is Bulgarian National Revival, and the church is one of the finest examples of the middle and late period of that style.

The original bell tower was a wooden structure beside the church. The Italian Paul Forlani designed the present bell tower, and Gencho Novakov added it in the very beginning of the twentieth century.
