The Alexander Nevsky Memorial Church stands at the edge of the Alexandrowka settlement in Potsdam, below the Kapellenberg. Vasily Stasov designed it, and it was built from 1826 to 1829. The church served the Russian residents of Alexandrowka and belongs to the Russian Orthodox Church.
Its style is Byzantine Revival. It is described as a very early example in Germany, and as one of the earliest Byzantine Revival works within Russian Revival architecture.
It is the oldest Russian Orthodox church in Germany, and it still has an active congregation. The groundbreaking took place in 1826, and the church was consecrated in 1829. Alexandrowka is now part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Palaces and Parks of Potsdam and Berlin.
